Trust Your Creatives

Before we begin, know this is not a rant from a frustrated artist. I write from my experience and mainly from a creative person's perspective.

It is known that all creative fields are difficult and sometimes unstable career choices for obvious reasons like competition and the reality of deadlines. Another example can be creative limitations due to many factors, such as budget or client preferences.

While new designers are entering this field with hopes of the creative freedom that all “artists” seek, some may be disappointed by these realities. Those of us who remain persistent and passionate know that part of being a professional is knowing how and when to pick our battles.

At Tsé Creative, we are open to and embrace the collaborative exchange between clients and designers. It's part of the process. However, generally speaking, everyone seems to think they're an artist. This is the beauty and the curse of what we do because it's true anyone can do it, but the same thing applies to any skill set. As designers, we need to remember that there is a reason why a client approaches us for help. You can do something they can't.

We will solve your problem, its up to you to use the solution or not.

As much as we want to respect a client's vision, creatives must approach and present themselves before a project as a solution to a problem. This approach was introduced to us while reading about the legendary American designer Paul Rand.

We encourage you to watch this 1993 interview with Steve Jobs about the designer.
